Oct. 26 Sugarite Canyon State Park (Raton, New Mexico)

After picking up my camper in Arvada, CO I headed out of Denver south on I-25 trying to beat the snow coming into the area. I did encounter snow south near the New Mexico border. I pulled in Sugarite Canyon State Park and found a campsite in the dark and cold. It sure was nice to have a camper with a furnace to keep warm and cozy while it snowed and sleeted outside. I think this park is beautiful in the spring and summer. Looking very dry at this time of the year. This area had a fire near it back in the spring of 2011. I remember the interstate was closed in Raton as I was heading back from Arizona to Omaha.
